What is CPT?

Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test, commonly known as CA CPT, is conducted in offline mode. Held twice a year, in the month of June and November, it is through this examination that candidates become eligible to pursue Chartered Accountancy (CA) as a career. CA CPT judges the abilities of the candidates in General Economics, Accounting, Mercantile Laws and Quantitative Aptitude.

What is the eligibility for CPT?

Candidates who are planning to take the entrance exam should check the detailed eligibility criteria for CA CPT exam which is given in detail below.

  • Candidates must have passed their class 10th and 12th examination or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Candidates who want to appear in the CPT examinations to be held in the month of June and December must register themselves on or before 1st April and 1st October respectively.
  • In case, the last date of registration for CA CPT happens to be a Gazetted Holiday/National Holiday/Bank Holiday/Sunday, then, the next working day will be considered as the last date of registration for Common Proficiency Course (CPC).
  • Candidates must have Bachelor's or Master's degree in any stream other than Commerce with 60% marks in aggregate in all subjects.
  • Candidates having Bachelor's or Master's degree from Open University are exempted from appearing for the entrance examination.
  • Candidates having Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce with at least 55% marks are exempted from appearing in CA CPT 2019.

What is the exam pattern of CPT?
