ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder which is a medical condition. What are the symptoms of ADHD?
It's normal for children to have trouble concentrating and behaving properly at times. However, children with ADHD do not only grow out of these behaviors. When it is a physical problem, its symptoms can persist throughout life, symptoms can range from severe to moderate, and can cause difficulty at school, at home, or with friends. Apart from this the following symptoms may also be seen:-

- Appearing unable to listen or follow instructions
- Having difficulty organizing tasks

Hyperactivity and impulsiveness – Having ADHD can make a person more active and can become impulsive very quickly. The symptoms can cause significant problems in the child's life. Whose main symptoms are as follows:-
- Constant extravagance
- Excessive physical activity
- Talking too much
- Acting without thinking
- Interrupt the conversation
- Little or no sense of danger
- Being unable to sit still, especially in a quiet or calm environment
- Being unable to concentrate on tasks
- Being unable to wait your turn
Symptoms seen in adults when they have ADHD – In adults, the symptoms of ADHD are more difficult to define. This is largely due to the lack of research in adults with ADHD. As ADHD is a developmental disorder, it is believed that it may not develop in adults unless it first appears during childhood. During this time the following symptoms appear:-
- Carelessness and lack of attention
- Poor organizational skills
- Constantly losing or misplacing things
- Forgetfulness problem
- Restlessness and irritability
- Difficulty remaining quiet, and speaking repeatedly or out of turn
- Mood swings, irritability and short temper
- Inability to deal with stress
- Problem of excessive impatience
- Constantly starting new work before completing old work.
- Inability to concentrate or prioritize
- Taking risks in activities, often with little or no regard for personal safety or the safety of others. For example – dangerous driving
What are the causes of ADHD?
The causes and risk factors of ADHD are unknown, its underlying causes are currently unknown. But at present, some ongoing research has revealed that the root cause of ADHD is genetics. According to the research done so far, the main reasons for having ADHD are as follows:-
- Brain injury
- Brain not developing properly after birth
- Premature delivery
- Low birth weight
- Child having epileptic seizures
- If someone in the family has the problem of ADHD then having a child
- Brain not developing properly during pregnancy
- Alcohol and tobacco consumption during pregnancy
- Exposure to environmental risks during pregnancy or at an early age
Are there many types of ADHD?
Yes, there are three types of ADHD i.e. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, which are described below.
Inattentive – It is difficult for the person to organize or finish a task, pay attention to details, or follow instructions or conversations. The person becomes easily distracted or forgets details of daily routine. During this time the following symptoms may appear: -
- Get bored easily
- Don't listen to anything
- Have trouble following instructions
- Have trouble concentrating on one task
- Have difficulty organizing thoughts and learning new information
- Losing pencils, papers, or other items needed to complete a task
- Move slowly and appear as if they are daydreaming
- Process information more slowly and less accurately than others
Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation – This type of ADHD is characterized by symptoms of impulsivity and hyperactivity. These types of people may show symptoms of inattentiveness, but the following symptoms may also be seen in the patient:-
- difficulty sitting still
- talking incessantly
- keep going
- always be impatient
- Clear display of answers and inappropriate comments
- Touching and playing with objects even when inappropriate for the task at hand
- Have trouble participating in quiet activities.
Combined Presentation – When there is a combined presentation, the patient may see the above two types of symptoms of ADHD. Along with this, these symptoms can either increase or decrease.
How is ADHD diagnosed?
If you think that your child has ADHD, you should immediately contact a registered doctor about this. In their examination, the doctor may check the vision and hearing of the box and also check the mental condition of the child, so that it can be confirmed whether the child has ADHD problem or not. During this time, the doctor can also identify the symptoms in the child, for which he can also keep the child under his supervision.
If the parents help the doctor properly during diagnosis and give proper information about the child to the doctor, then it helps a lot in the treatment. If a child is confirmed to have ADHD, the child can be treated in the following ways: -
- Medications – These activate the brain's ability to pay attention, slow down, and use more self-control.
- Behavioral therapy – Therapists can help children develop social, emotional, and planning skills.
- Parent Coaching – Through coaching, an attempt is made to change the behavior of parents towards children. Because it is often seen that parents and other family members do not behave properly with such children.
- School Support – Teachers can pay more attention to children with ADHD and help them always feel special and get along with everyone.
What to do for a child or adult struggling with ADHD.
If someone struggles with ADHD then they should try to make special changes in their life and adopt the following measures:-

- Set clear boundaries
- Be positive
- Learn to give and take instructions
- Always keep yourself motivated
- Talk to people face to face
- Set sleep time
- Don't think too much at night
- Try to understand social situations
